HOW DOES MAYBE BABY™ WORK?

maybe Baby™ works by creating an image of your saliva.

The level of oestrogen in saliva increases dramatically two to three days prior to your fertile period and reaches its peak on the day of ovulation. By viewing the magnified image of your saliva through the maybe Baby™ microscope you can pinpoint when your oestrogen levels are rising and therefore when you are most likely to conceive.

It only takes a few moments to take the maybe Baby™ ovulation test.

Simply place a small amount of saliva on the lens, allow it to dry and look through the viewfinder. (see also maybe Baby™ Parts)

When dry saliva is viewed through a microscope it reveals distinct patterns. These patterns will help you determine which stage of your cycle you are in by helping to recognise oestrogen changes. (Please note that these images are a guide - your samples may not look exactly the same. The ferns/pebble patterns are portrayed as black for ease of viewing however you will see them as translucent/greyish patterns against the green background).

1. During a non-fertile or low oestrogen phase dried saliva reveals a pattern of pebbles or dots.

1. You are not likely to conceive during this period.

2. During a transitional phase when oestrogen levels are rising or higher (usually in the 2 to 3 days before ovulation) dried saliva reveals a combination of pebbles and small ferns.

2. You can increase your chances of conception by having intercourse when you see the transitional phase and during the full ferning .

3. During ovulation or when oestrogen levels are high dried saliva crystallises and forms a distinctive “fern” pattern.

3. You are most likely to conceive when you see the full fern pattern.

4. After ovulation has occurred the transitional phase will usually appear again before you return to the non-fertile phase.

4. Intercourse that occurs more than approx. 24 hours after ovulation is highly unlikely to result in conception.

5. Ferning around the menstrual cycle can occur but does not relate to ovulation.

5. Any ferning that occurs after your ovulation date does not relate to ovulation and can be ignored.
